The new stores

A well known company is making new stores all over the world called citystores. The task was to develop digital and practical solutions on a small surface that can present many products. One of the significant roles in the presentation was the digital book, which feels like Ikea's own catalog. I created a book with paperpages that you can browse as a regular book, the scale was A1 in size that has completely blank pages in the "off position".

When the book is "on", information is projected on the pages with both image, moving film and text. The information is projected from two places with a partial motion indicator and QR code reader with reader prism to keep track of where you are on the pages. Pen sketches and other visual illustrations for the project were also included in my work role as well as interior design and photo retouching.

How to make something analoge become digital

Building a book that is interactive with you, senses how you browse, how quickly you want to see products is a whole new way of presenting, for example, furniture. A feeling with Harry Potter-like content where both images and text are moving and that you as a user can interact with the content.

Using wall projection to unlock the right mood

Wall projection is a very powerful tool to transform any surface into a visual success. For example, we created a surface where a desired environment was projected. This is controlled by the customer by clicking on a clear display. You can choose daytime or evening time, change rooms, equipment in a kitchen or color of the kitchen. The possibilities are endless.

Projection products on a empty white table

Interactive projection

The assignment consisted of presenting as much of the customer's products as possible but on a small surface. You cannot have all products available at citystores. Then think of an interactive projection on a white table that creates a "real" visual feeling on products you as a customer want to choose.

The table allows the user to click on the table and select properties of which products to display. Change the entire setting, cutlery, glasses, plates, tablets and the table surface and everything is updated in real time in front of you.

Engaging User Experience

This interactive wall display concept not only helps customers understand products better but also provides a memorable and impressive experience. It can be especially useful when you have a wide range of material choices and want to help customers make informed decisions about which best suits their needs.

When a customer clicks on a tile, a digital screen will activate and display detailed information about the selected material. This can include properties such as durability, price, appearance and QR code to be able to add exactly the customer's configuration choice.
