Redesign in Umbraco CMS

UX, UI, design, workshop, analysis

Modernization of the website

I participated in a modernization of the website of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce's Arbitration Institute (SCC). This included the creation of a new graphic profile, restructuring of content, and development of the responsive website sccinstitute.se using the user-friendly CMS tool Umbraco.

The Stockholm Chamber of Commerce's Arbitration Institute is a leading provider of professional dispute resolution services for commercial parties and is ranked as one of the world's leading bodies in the field of dispute resolution.

Skiljedomsinstitutet

The Arbitration Institute was founded in 1917 and is an independent unit within the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce. The Arbitration Institute is today one of the foremost institutes in the world for East-West related disputes, but is also an international center for dispute resolution where parties from 30-40 different countries choose to have their disputes settled every year.

The assignment

SCC needed to modernize their existing website, which was not responsive, was considered outdated, and did not reflect their current brand profile. In addition, they had challenging management of their CMS and an accumulation of out-of-date pages.

The challenge

For Limetta initially, it was a challenge to understand how dispute resolutions within arbitration processes worked and how they could best be presented on the website in a clear way. Through workshops in collaboration with SCC, we finally managed to reach a common vision for the website's goals. We developed a customized information structure that was continuously developed and adapted before the design and web development phase began.

The concept

The main goal was to convey a modern and trusting feel that emphasized Stockholm's neutral role, their long standing reputation and the serious nature of the company.

The process

The project was carried out with a compact project team and used an agile methodology in close collaboration with the clients from SCC. By prioritizing mobile adaptation, we ensured that the website would work seamlessly on different screens. In the project, we used an iterative process with an HTML prototype that started from some basic design sketches that defined the visual concept. Further design decisions were made directly in the prototype, which fostered close collaboration between AD and front-end developers and gave the customer visibility and participation in the entire process. The website was built on the open source CMS Umbraco.

Graphic profile

The assignment included creating a graphic profile for the web, something that was previously missing. We developed this profile based on SCC's signature green colour, and we also created a uniform color scheme and typeface to ensure a consistent visual identity.

The charts used by SCC to visualize its statistics received a new design that aligned with the overall visual style, and we created an icon system that highlights important sections and inputs on the site.

Solution

How an arbitration goes is crystal clear - for a lawyer who works with arbitration.
